Successful 2023 Winter Program

During the week of December 19th through the 23rd HCA hosted its second program. It was a week long, free program open to grades K-12. We had sixty-one kids enrolled. We used the Hillsdale 1776 Curriculum and focused the lessons on the Constitution, its articles, the Bill of Rights, and the authors. In just a short week’s time, the students memorized the preamble to the Constitution, learned the structure of government, and the meaning of the Bill of Rights. The children were enthusiastic, engaged, eager to learn, and worked diligently. The Board of Directors and volunteers spent hours preparing the lessons and creating continuity between the age groups. All of the materials, supplies, and time were generously donated. At the end of the week the students presented a short program for the parents demonstrating their impressive knowledge.

Each program we have put on has been more successful than the last. There is a need for quality civics and American history. We think our short programs provide a great opportunity to supplement a child’s education and provides a great introduction to classical education. As such we intend to continue to provide our week long, free program for grades K-12, using the Hillsdale 1776 Curriculum every spring, summer, fall, and winter break.
